DramaFever is a rapidly growing online video start-up that specializes in international entertainment. The company was founded in 2009 and recently received a $4.5M venture round that includes investment from YouTube co-founder Steven Chen and former Google executive Benjamin Ling (other investors include StubHub founder Jeff Fluhr). The funding is being used to grow the engineering team and to expand to other international markets. Partners include Hulu, and VentureBeat calls DramaFever a ‘fast growing Asian Hulu‘.
Due to growth, DramaFever is seeking talented software engineers of all levels, preferably with Python experience (will consider Ruby experience as well). Their platform includes Django, MySQL, MongoDB, Amazon Web Services EC2, and Linux/Ubuntu. Experience developing for iOS or Android is a big plus.
With site traffic doubling every 6-8 months and an increasing number of video options available for subscribers, DramaFever provides engineers with many unique challenges. Data mining, scalability and availability, localization, voice/image recognition, and mobile product development are just some of those challenges.
